For the first time, Google I/O event will be held under the parent company Alphabet. After early launch of Android N preview, lots of new gadgets are ready to be unveiled during the conference scheduled for 18 to 20 May 2016. We have seen so many new products from Microsoft and Apple and now, it’s Google’s turn to reveal what they have for the tech geeks. Not only the latest Android operating system, some innovative gadgets are on the way for the first look. Here we have made predictions of the expected gadgets that may be unveiled at Google I/O 2016 event.

Android Auto

Google I/O 2016 Predictions

With android auto application, you can access most useful application from your phone after connecting you phone with your car’s USB port. It works only for those devices running on Android 5.0 or above  [Lollipop or Marshmallow] . Just install the application and it shows you the useful information and organizes it into simple cards that appear just when they are needed.

Third party applications are expected to be compatible with this system. The company is also planning to add some more features to this product including safety features.

Android N [7.0] Operating System

Probably the most talked about topic. The Android N is currently under preview stage, while some new features like multi window processing, settings option on app info screen is expected to be added in new version. We are not sure that whether Google will unveil its name, but Google may run online poll for Android N name.

We may also see lots of new performance upgrades along with battery saving tips in Android N 7.0. It is calculated that almost 3% of all Android phones are running on Android M [Marshmallow]. But if you are a Nexus 6 or 5X or 6P users, then you could be one of those to use Android N 7.0 operating system.

Android Wear

Yet another incredible gadget which may get updates of its operating system. Along with android updates for smartphones, a huge number of updates are expected to be unveiled for android wear at the Google I/O 2016. It is expected that Google may announce android wear compatibility with Windows phone.

The developers are working on lots of updates for better performance of this gadget. Possible updates of Android wear includes gesture controls, standalone feature, better voice control etc.

Google Chrome

One of the most used products of Google, chrome is expected to be unveiled with lots of new features and fixes. Cross compatibility features like letting users to have access on documents on their smartphones with the use of Google chrome. It is also rumored that the search engine giant is planning to integrate Google chrome with Android operating system.

Nexus 7 Tablet

Google always release one or two smartphone or tablet every year. Last year, the company launched Nexus 5X and 6P. Both devices got huge appreciations and now what’s next. Sources revealed that Google may launch new tablet called Nexus 7 which is also expected to make appearance in Google I/O 2016.

Google’s new partner Huawei is expected to make this device. It will have a metal body and lower price than the pixel c but maintain the 7 inch screen.

Project Ara

It’s a modular smartphone that holds smartphone modules of the owner’s choice, such as a display, camera or an additional battery. It would allow users to swap out malfunctioning modules of upgrade individual modules as innovations emerge which provides longer lifetime cycles for the device.

After long wait, the official twitter page of Project Ara finally confirmed that the modular smartphone will go on sale this year in United States. Its specifications are not unveiled yet, so we could see some features of this modular device at the Google I/O 2016.

Project Tango

Runs on Android operating system, the project tango is also expected to catch eyes at the event. It was first developed by a team led by a computer scientist Johnny Lee. Google designed two more devices for the demonstration of project tango which are Peanut phone and the Yellowstone.

This technology gives smartphones the ability to navigate the physical world similar to how we do as humans. It brings a new kind of spatial perception to the Android device platform by adding advanced computer vision, image processing and special vision sensors.

Self Driving Cars By Google

In September last year, Google that the company didn’t actually want to manufacture physical cars. This means the search engine giant may partner with auto companies. Those companies who are working on the same project may also like to join hands with Google.

Self driving car will be one of the most focused topic during the conference. Almost every automobile company is already working on this project, but it is still not known that which company will partner with Google. At the upcoming event in California, we may see a figure presentation for the tests.

It is rumored that the self driving car may run on little koala car’s software, but it is not confirmed yet. Looking on last events of Apple and Microsoft, Google would like to include the self driving car project to its event. What do you say?

Smart Home

Apple has already got a good start in smart home project, while Google has made few announcements during the last Google I/O event. So this could be a major focus by the company at the Google I/O 2016 conference.

After the launch of wireless Wi-Fi router OnHub, Google has planted its seeds in smart home project. Last year, the company partnered with Asus and TP-Link and unveiled the router for fast speed internet. Although the device needs broadband connection, but it gives you internet speed better than ever before.

Just like OnHub, some more products are ready to be unveiled at the conference to make your home a smart home.
